11th of june, two important regulatory news have been published from Brussels:
- Regulation 536/2013, which contains the authorization of 6 new health claims for food (DHA/EPA), dried prunes, fructose, alpha-cyclodextrin)
- The European Parliament gave its green light on a set of clearer rules about dietary food. The new framework will cover food for infants and young children, food for people with specific medical conditions and food for weight control (replacement of the complete daily diet). Food for coeliacs will be transferred to the Regulation on Food Information to Consumers and will no longer belong to dietary food. The regulation will be published in the EU Official Journal in the coming weeks and will only apply from 2016.
